Update…

The July 2026 surgical brigade in El Salvador was again conducted at the Benjamin Bloom Hospital for Children in San Salvador, where we have developed an excellent working relationship with the hospital’s orthopedic service and administration.  Operation Footprint surgeons are actively involved in training the orthopedic residents rotating through the hospital, as they acquire their pediatric orthopedic experience.

The increased number of children that have been presented by Bloom Hospital to us for consultation and treatment has resulted in our now conducting two surgical brigades annually, in January and June.   This ensures that a backlog of patients does not develop, doubles the number of children that we can help, and creates greater training opportunities.  Further learning is afforded to the residents through Operation Footprint’s CFAR (Complex Foot and Ankle Reconstruction) virtual lecture series.   This series, which is delivered monthly and covers the breadth and depth of challenging cases, has grown continually since it’s inception.  We have been conducting this series for more than 3 ½ years, and have developed a large following, with greater than 2500 doctors.
